Description

Algae/mould growth, including fungi & lichens, are an increasing problem on both the inside and outside of the buildings, predominantly on painted surfaces. If it occurs on an interior wall then it is potentially harmful as well as aesthetically unappealing.

Possible Cause

Organic growth like fungi or algae on surfaces is a typical natural occurrence. Micro-organisms of fungi or algae which is left unchecked can cause blemishes or staining of painted or unpainted surfaces. This is caused by excess of water or moisture in an area.

Paint will not adhere correctly to the surface and will cause premature peeling.

Fungal or algae contamination

Solution

Remove source of moisture ingress, allow drying. Sterilize the contaminated area with Fast Fungal Wash. Rinse properly. Surface must be dry and in sound condition before starting to paint.

Prime with Stevensons Plaster Primer.

Apply two coats of good quality paint e.g Stevensons Linen Silk or Stevensons Wallkote.
